A couple of longer works this week. The Steve Reich piece is about the cloned sheep Dolly; it’s one of three on technological themes he wrote to accompany video by Beryl Korot (included on a DVD in the Three Tales package). The BBC called it “video opera.” Here’s the 2006 New Yorker portrait of Morton Feldman by Alex Ross mentioned during the show - it’s a sharp look at Feldman’s life and career and well worth the time. Don’t know much about Richard Jordan Smoot except that I stumbled on the “Hauntings” CD and like it a lot. Zappa is the palate cleanser. Hope you enjoy.
