Allison Russell & JT Nero who formed Birds Of Chicago a couple years. ‘ Live From Space ‘ recorded last year at Space in Evanston Illinois with a gloriously hot seven piece band rocking the best of their fantastic songs from the past two studio albums.

Session one is a debut singer/songwriter hailing from the coal mines of Kentucky now living in Nashville. Sturgill Simpson 1st record is causing waves in the Americana & Country worlds … signed to London’s Loose Records ‘ High Top Mountain ‘ is a fresh breath of uncompromising country writing that hits the spot. This stripped down session and interview tells his story and it’s a good one.
Session two comes from Stark … a Sussex trio fresh from Brighton’s music college and they are embarking on a journey into roots / rock country … this acoustic session shows their true talents and growing mastering of their chosen genre.
Record of the week comes from the Nashville roots label Red Beet Records and Eric Brace & Karl Straub have put together a roots musical. ‘ Hangtown Dancehall ‘ tells a story that started in the 1850′s of a couple who travel 2000 miles from Missouri to join the Californian gold rush … taken from a John Stone song and expanded into this musical by Eric & Karl. All the characters songs and voices have been cast with superb musicians and we are splitting the story into three parts. Part one starts this weeks show.
