One Man’s Jazz – 09/18/2014

At the end of the first hour in tonight’s show, I mention that the great trumpet player Kenny Wheeler is very ill In England and needing expensive care, and that there was a move afoot to host various fund-raising concerts in Canada and England. This show was recorded two weeks ago.
Sad to say that on this broadcast day, the 18th of September, Kenny passed away. I’m bummed. My condolences to his family, friends, fellow musicians and fans who loved his music, who loved the man.

Surplus Value / The History of the Microphone – 09/09/2014

OK, the playlist for tonight’s Surplus Value / The History of the Mic show at 7PM EST is the show I had thought would “air” last week, the one with some previously unreleased Jack Bruce / Don Pullen work. There were tech problems in the air last week, I guess….

So, again:

TA DAH….

OK, tech problems aside (as we all know, if we hate the tech stuff, it’ll hate us back…. ok……) this SHOULD be the playlist for the Surplus Value show 020 with my emotional engagement with the Jack Bruce / Don Pullen lottery friends of all lifetimes stuff…..

I’ll post the “playlist” below, with the vocal notes I’ve taken for myself missing -: it seems a lot of you can’t understand my direct (DIRECT via Dha BRONX!) English, but, if interested, you could always contact me to ask what I meant, or what I said if it was really indecipherable / inaudible. There’s a chance I would answer.

The posted interview with Jack, Don and myself should cement my position among the most articulately difficult….
